This not only predestined him to conquer the world of marzipan, but also earned him the so-called “Heimathschein”. This documents that Rudolf Moll has “the quality of a Prussian”. The following is known about the creation of the first raw marzipan factory: “It seems,” writes Christa Pieske in “Marzipan aus Lübeck” (LN-Verlag Lübeck), “that it was master confectioner Rudolf Moll from Lübeck who founded the first raw marzipan factory in Altona near Hamburg in 1866.”

Our namesake Rudolf Moll passed his master confectioner’s examination on January 13, 1860 after a five-year apprenticeship as a confectioner and three years as a journeyman in his native city of Lübeck. His master craftsman’s certificate is still in the Moll collection today.
